Making a Claim
We’re hardly ever prepared for emergencies, accidents or other extraordinary events and incidents that disrupt our lives.
| If you’re involved in a car accident that occurs in Toronto, and damages are estimated to be more than $1,000 (and most of the time they will be) then you MUST go to a Collision Reporting Centre and report the accident. Maps and addresses are provided below: |

The following are some hints to help you be better prepared, especially for incidents that involve making a claim on your insurance policy.
1. First things first
In the event of an accident, take steps to prevent any further damage. Secure medical assistance immediately for any injuries to people. Take steps to prevent further property damage by moving a car out of traffic, or turning off a water source in the event of a burst pipe, or temporarily covering an open entrance to a home to shut out bad weather.
2. If possible, talk to us
If you have a claim to make, call us during business hours and we’ll be able to advise you about the implications of making a claim and what you can expect from the process. We monitor claims to ensure you are being provided with the service you have contracted for.
3. If we’re not immediately available
If you need claims help immediately, and it’s after our business hours, the direct claims reporting number for your insurer is accessible through the message on our voice mail box. To contact your insurer directly, have the details of your loss and your policy number available and call:
Traders and Aviva/Pilot: 1-866-692-8482 (1-866-MY-AVIVA)
Intact: 1-866-464-2424
Dominion of Canada
In Canada: 1-800-661-5522
In the U.S.: 1-800-241-2541
4. Car accidents in Toronto
There is a multitude of other factors involved in making a claim.
Call us and we’ll answer any questions you have.
If your vehicle needs to be towed, have the tow truck driver take it to the Collision Reporting Centre and nowhere else. Do not respond to ‘incentives’ or ‘deals’ offered by a tow truck driver and do not sign any ‘waiver’. Tow truck drivers are not insurance experts.
